Sessions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a beneficial healing modality that is very popular and utilized for health and wellness. It is based on energetic principles and is practiced in many hospitals, medical settings, and in private practice all around the world.

How long is a Reiki session?

Sessions vary per person. First time clients can expect a session to take up to 90 minutes. Returning clients sessions typically run 30-45 minutes in length.

Will I be lying down on a massage table or sitting?

Reiki is usually performed on a client who is fully reclined comfortably on a massage table.  If you have mobility or pain issues please communicate these to your Practitioner so they may make you your most comfortable for the session.

Am I clothed during my Reiki session?

Yes. Unlike a massage therapy session, you will be fully clothed. You’ll want to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing.

Will the Reiki Practitioner’s hands touch me in any way?

Reiki is either a “Gentle Hands On” or “Hands Free” technique. The Reiki Practictioner holds their hands a couple inches over the clients body (the aura or energy field) using sweeping motions and Reiki symbols. If you are not comfortable with touch please let the Reiki Practitioner be aware before the start of the session.

Is one session enough or will I need a series of sessions?

One session is a great start! You will see for yourself how Reiki makes you feel, if it is relaxing, if you feel more clarity after the session. I always suggest listening to your soul, your intuition, you’ll know when it’s time for another session. Every one is different, some may need weekly sessions to “break down the walls”, the aura field can be like a suit of armor and take time to break through. Others may be good with monthly sessions and so on.

Is Reiki for an acute condition or a chronic condition?

If you have an acute condition you should seek out a licensed medical professional immediately. If you have a chronic or current issue, Reiki can be an excellent complement in your health or wellness plan.

What will I feel during the session?

Most clients feel a sense of relaxation and peace. The mind may feel calm and your physical body should feel relaxed. Reiki is so relaxing that sometimes clients may fall asleep during the session. Don’t worry though, you will still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake.

Some other things clients may experience during a session;

-Slight tingling (pins and needles) throughout the body

-Visuals/Imagery. You may see colors or some experience visions

-You may feel energy being released in mulitple areas at one time.

-You may feel a soft touch or gentle tug. At times our guides and angels have been known to step in and assist with the healing.

-Some people may feel emotional which is perfectly ok. You are releasing what no longer serves you.

-Some may feel the opposite, they may feel complete joy and feel the need to laugh.

-And some may feel a warm or cool sensation from the Reiki Practitioners hand placements.

Usually a session is done without talking. If you have any questions or concerns, if you’re uncomfortable please speak it so we can adjust to your needs.

Once the session is over I’ll share anything I picked up on. Such as what I sensed, felt, saw, any vistiors (angels or guides) that may have stepped forward to help with the healing session or may just have something they’d like to share. I also share any advice that may being coming forward from the higher realms.

Can I drive after my session?

Yes, after the relaxation of your session you will be in your full awake state…well after a few minutes of what I call “Coming Back”. Some clients may need additional grounding stones such as Hematite, Smokey Quartz and Shungite may be used. A five minute brisk walk to your car or other transportation will add to your groundedness. Placing your bare feet in the grass or leaning against a tree for a few minutes will also help with grounding or centering. Be sure that you are fully awake and alert before driving in general.

After I leave my session, should I do anything special?

Please drink plenty of water to hydrate your body as your body’s energy system may be moving at a more optimum rate, so please care for yourself with water and healthy food during the day. Think of it as a spiritual cleanse,  your mind, body and spirit are detoxing, releasing toxins, releasing what no longer serves you. It is beneficial to spend some quiet time that day or evening after your session to journal or to contemplate as you may have some insights and further mental clarity as your body continues to process the Reiki session.

Do I tip my Reiki Practitioner?

This is at client’s discretion. If you felt you had a beneficial and caring session, then you may wish to show your gratitude.

Can you have too much Reiki?

No, Reiki is beneficial and works with your body’s energy. In fact, your own energetic body is in control of how much Reiki it wants and needs during the session and utilizes it accordingly. Like breathing, you will comfortably take in as much as you need to support you.
